CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Misamis Oriental-Cagayan de Oro MSME Development Council is working to give local businesses more opportunities to reach bigger markets through trade fairs, buyer connections, and government support.
During its Sept. 28 meeting, the council reported that 50 MSMEs gained product display and market-access opportunities, while 100 local products were featured in trade fairs and exhibitions.
At IFEX 2026, local MSMEs recorded ₱5.2 million in sales, including ₱676,044.50 in cash sales and ₱4.54 million in booked sales under negotiation.
Eight businesses were also connected with potential buyers.The council also discussed supporting 10 MSMEs joining the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Food Expo and encouraging government agencies to source tokens and giveaways from the GINAMA One Town, One Product Hub at Gaston Park.
Officials noted that product labeling and packaging remain challenges for businesses seeking to enter larger markets. The council also highlighted the need for financing, digitalization, business registration support, and skills training.
