CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Iponan is encouraging young people and residents to stay active through “Inambaka: Step Dance Session,” a fitness activity that combines exercise, fun, and community bonding.
Held as part of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, the program introduced step dancing as an energetic workout that helps improve physical fitness while allowing participants to connect with others.SK Chairperson Neljames Del Rosario said the activity was created to give the youth a fun and accessible way to exercise.
The sessions, held at the Iponan Covered Court, were conducted in partnership with StepDance PH, where participants followed guided routines using step boards while improving their strength, endurance, and coordination.
StepDance PH founder and coach Al Nazer Batulan said the goal of the program is to make fitness enjoyable and open for everyone.
The SK initially planned the activity for youth ages 15 to 30 but later welcomed older residents after receiving interest from the community. With positive feedback from participants, the SK is looking into continuing the program to promote a healthier, more active Iponan community.
