Camiguin Task Force Steps Up Road Safety Enforcement

CAMIGUIN — Task Force Disiplina (TFD) is intensifying road safety enforcement and community education to reduce traffic violations and improve compliance with provincial ordinances.

TFD Officer Junnil Nillama said the task force focuses not only on apprehending violators but also on educating motorists and communities about traffic rules and public safety.One of the common violations observed is riding without a helmet, with some motorists saying their destination is only a short distance away.

The task force reminded motorists that safety rules apply regardless of travel distance.Aside from traffic enforcement, TFD also monitors compliance with ordinances on public smoking and drinking, the transport of swine to help prevent African swine fever, and public safety in barangays and schools.

TFD Action Officer Niño Jubilee Daleon said the group plans to coordinate with schools as more young people are being apprehended for motorcycle-related violations. The task force also conducts checkpoints in remote and upland areas of the province.

The TFD said motorists issued an Ordinance Violation Receipt or citation ticket are given up to 30 days to settle their fines before formal court charges may be filed. Enforcement activities are also documented through photographs and other records.
