Ozamiz Worker Finds ₱200K, Makes Sure It Gets Back to Its Owner

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental — A job-order employee of the Ozamiz City Government returned ₱200,000 in cash after finding the money at a subdivision in Barangay Malaubang on Sept. 24.

JE Court Flores Luzana immediately reported and surrendered the cash to the Ozamiz City Police Station on the same night.

Police said the money was packed in four bundles of ₱50,000 each, all in ₱500 bills. Authorities later identified the owner as PMSg. Gaudencio P. Monopolio Jr. of the Police Regional Office-10, who had earlier reported losing the cash.Police verified Monopolio’s claim and matched the records before returning the full amount to him.

The city government commended Luzana for his honesty and said his actions reflected the values of its “Asenso” framework, particularly honesty, helpfulness, and respect for other people’s property.
