PhilHealth Urges Consumers to Use YAKAP’s Free Primary Care Benefits

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Consumers in Northern Mindanao are being encouraged to make use of PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), which provides qualified members with primary care services and access to essential medicines.

The program was highlighted during the 3rd Quarter Consumer Network Meeting led by the Department of Trade and Industry Northern Mindanao on Sept. 24.PhilHealth Northern Mindanao information officer Kysha Melan S. Dela Rosa said YAKAP members can access consultations, laboratory tests, and health screenings through their chosen YAKAP clinic.

Members may also receive up to ₱20,000 worth of essential medicines each year through the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) benefit.Dela Rosa explained that YAKAP also follows a continuity-of-care policy.

Members who enter into an agreement with a YAKAP clinic generally stay with their chosen facility for one year after their First Patient Encounter.Members who want to change their YAKAP clinic may file a request from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 at their nearest PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office, subject to program rules.

She also clarified that GAMOT medicines can be claimed from any accredited GAMOT pharmacy nationwide, provided members have a prescription from their YAKAP physician and meet the program requirements.
