MARAWI CITY — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially proclaimed the nine district winners from Lanao del Sur in the first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.The proclamation was held on September 15 at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Marawi City after election officials completed the consolidation and validation of results from the province’s municipalities.Arimao Asum of the fifth district was the ninth and final winner proclaimed at around 4:07 p.m.
The proclaimed district representatives are:
Princess “Pala” Lanto-Gandamra — First District
SIAPHamza Gauraki — Second District,
UBJPAbdul Rauf Adiong — Third District,
SIAPLampa Pandi — Fourth District,
UBJPArimao Asum — Fifth District,
SIAPHosni Macapodi — Sixth District,
SIAPRayyan Mindalano — Seventh District,
SIAPAhmad Amir Balindong — Eighth District,
UBJPRashdi Adiong — Ninth District,
SIAPThe final election transmission was received at about 3:55 p.m. on September 15, allowing provincial officials to finish the canvassing and proclamation.Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Mohammad Nabil Mutia credited the peaceful conduct of the elections to the cooperation among Comelec, security forces, teachers, and other government agencies.
Mutia described the polls as “the most peaceful election in the history of Lanao del Sur,” noting that no serious untoward incidents or gunfire were reported from the final testing and sealing of election equipment through Election Day.Police also prepared additional personnel to address possible vacancies in Electoral Boards.
Around 300 police officers were trained as Special Electoral Boards, with 79 eventually deployed after 79 teachers did not continue serving in their assigned posts.PBGen Jemuel Siason, deputy regional director for administration of the Bangsamoro police, said the preparations helped prevent the vacancies from disrupting the elections.The proclamation completes Lanao del Sur’s district-level election process and allows the nine elected representatives to participate in the Bangsamoro Parliament.The 80-member Bangsamoro Parliament is composed of 40 regional party representatives, 32 district representatives, and eight sectoral representatives.
