MANILA — Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Wednesday, September 9, co-sponsored a Senate resolution honoring the Metrobank Foundation’s Ten Most Outstanding Filipinos of 2026.
The awardees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to public service, education, national security, and community development.Go said the honorees showed how excellence, honesty, and compassion can create lasting positive changes in communities and across the country.
“These ten remarkable Filipinos exemplify what it means to serve with excellence, integrity, and compassion,” Go said.Among the awardees are public servants from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the education sector.The three police awardees are Police Lieutenant Colonel Robert R. Mansueto of Antique, Police Major Baby Rose P. Cajulao of Cagayan, and Police Master Sergeant Dwight Alexis B. Supsupin of Benguet.
They were recognized for promoting innovation, community involvement, education, and youth empowerment.The three military awardees were also praised for their contributions to public safety and national security.
Lieutenant Colonel Rommel M. Geli of the Philippine Navy was recognized for strengthening maritime security and territorial defense in the West Philippine Sea.Staff Sergeant Joebelle O. Cerdinio of the Philippine Army was honored for improving emergency response and public safety communications in Western Mindanao.Staff Sergeant John Daren P. Noche of the Philippine Air Force was recognized for using technology and innovation to make military operations safer and more efficient.Four educators were also included among this year’s honorees.Dr. Emmanuel D. Guarde of Oriental Mindoro promotes culture-based education for the Mangyan Alangan community.
Sheila Marie M. Amigo of Zamboanga Sibugay advances inclusive science education, while Dr. Cecilia O. Bucayong of Bukidnon promotes STEM education across Mindanao.Dr. Jefferson A. Hora of Iligan City was recognized for his work in semiconductor research and engineering education in Mindanao.
“Nation-building begins in the classroom,” Go said, emphasizing the important role of teachers in shaping the country’s future.The senator also expressed pride that five of the 10 awardees are from Mindanao.
He said their achievements show how talent and dedication can help uplift communities and inspire other Filipinos.Go also thanked the Metrobank Foundation, led by Philip Francisco Dy, for recognizing Filipinos who dedicate themselves to serving others.
He also acknowledged Chairman Arthur Ty, Vice Chairperson Alfred Ty, and Executive Director Joseph Anthony Quesada.The senator remembered the late former Metrobank Foundation chairman Chito Sobrepeña, whom he described as a longtime presence during the annual awarding ceremony.
Go said the awardees’ stories remind the public that true excellence is not measured only by recognition, but by the positive difference people make in the lives of others.He congratulated the honorees and encouraged them to continue serving the country with integrity, compassion, and dedication.“Unahin po natin ang interes ng bayan, unahin po natin ang interes ng bawat Pilipino,” Go said.
