CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) in Northern Mindanao is taking steps to help students recover from learning delays while making schools safer amid class disruptions caused by the pandemic, bad weather, and security concerns.
DepEd-10 Chief Education Supervisor Ricardo Dragon said the agency is focused on protecting learning time and ensuring the safety of students and teachers.To address learning gaps, especially in reading and mathematics, DepEd-10 is implementing the three-term block system to prevent school activities from reducing classroom hours. Sports events, journalism contests, and other activities are scheduled during breaks between academic terms.
The agency is also rolling out the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program, which provides additional support and tutoring for learners who need help catching up with their lessons.For school safety, DepEd-10 is implementing new measures, including stricter security checks, monitoring of unauthorized gadgets, and stronger coordination with local governments and police to protect students and school personnel.Through these programs, DepEd-10 aims to ensure that learners receive quality education while studying in a safer and more secure environment.
