MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended assistance to families affected by recent fire incidents in Balingasag and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, while calling for stronger disaster preparedness efforts in communities.
Through his Malasakit Team, Go provided support to fire-hit families in Barangay Linggangao, Balingasag, in coordination with local officials. A total of 20 families received food, financial assistance, grocery packs, vitamins, and other essential needs to help them recover.
Go also reached out through video calls to fire victims in Barangays 17 and San Juan in Gingoog City, where his team conducted another relief operation. A total of 16 families affected by the fire received similar assistance.The senator emphasized the importance of helping disaster victims immediately while also strengthening measures to prevent and lessen the impact of future emergencies.
Go highlighted his support for laws and programs aimed at improving disaster response, including the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act, which helps upgrade firefighting equipment, manpower, and training.
He also supported the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which provides safe evacuation centers for communities affected by disasters, and proposed measures to improve disaster response coordination and provide additional support for affected families.Through continued assistance and disaster preparedness programs, Go said the government must remain ready to help Filipinos during times of crisis.
