MARAWI CITY (PIA) — The city government of Marawi and the Department of Education (DepEd) have joined forces to address classroom shortages by building additional learning spaces in three public schools.
Marawi officials and DepEd signed a memorandum of agreement on August 17 to support the construction of new classrooms under the 2026 Basic Education Facilities Program.
Under the partnership, the city government will handle the procurement and implementation of the classroom projects, while DepEd will provide technical support and supervision.
The additional classrooms will benefit learners from Timbangan Elementary School, Mambuay Elementary School, and Tuca Ambolong Elementary School.Vice Mayor Majul U. Gandamra said the project will help provide students with safer and more comfortable learning environments while addressing the lack of classrooms in public schools.
He expressed gratitude to DepEd for extending support to Marawi and helping the city improve its education facilities.The partnership highlights the continued efforts of the local government and DepEd to create better learning spaces and improve educational opportunities for Marawi students.
