CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — Northern Mindanao has created a technical working group (TWG) to lead the planning and implementation of activities for the 2026 National Statistics Month (NSM).The group held its first organizational meeting on August 17 in Cagayan de Oro City to prepare activities for the celebration with the theme, “Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as Beacon Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Tourism.
”Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-10 Regional Director Janith C. Aves said the creation of the TWG aims to make this year’s NSM activities more meaningful and beneficial to the public.She said the group will focus on developing programs that will help people better understand the importance of statistics in planning, decision-making, and public service.
The TWG will oversee regional NSM activities, monitor their implementation, and identify ways to improve future celebrations.The Department of Tourism will serve as chair of the group, while PSA-10 will act as vice chair.
Other members include government agencies such as the Department of Economy, Planning and Development, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and other partner offices.
Aves said the TWG will work together to address concerns, provide solutions, and ensure that activities are properly carried out for the benefit of stakeholders.The National Statistics Month is celebrated every October to promote awareness and appreciation of statistics and highlight its role in creating better policies and programs.
