BALO-I, Lanao del Norte — Senator Christopher “Bong” Go highlighted the importance of bringing basic healthcare services closer to remote communities during the turnover of a new Super Health Center in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte, on July 30.
Representatives from Go’s Malasakit Team attended the turnover ceremony, supporting efforts to expand access to medical services for residents who need healthcare assistance within their communities.Go emphasized that strong cooperation between the Department of Health (DOH) and local government units (LGUs) is important to ensure that healthcare facilities remain useful and continue serving the people.
The newly turned-over Super Health Center is part of the nationwide effort to strengthen community healthcare services by providing easier access to consultations, laboratory tests, dental care, birthing services, medicines, and other basic medical needs.More than 700 Super Health Centers have been funded nationwide, including 11 facilities in Lanao del Norte, as part of efforts to bridge the gap between rural health units and hospitals.During the event, Go’s Malasakit Team, together with Provincial Board Member Dr. Bob Andot and Balo-i Mayor Madid Elias Ali, also extended support to barangay health workers through the distribution of food packs, shirts, and pens.
Go also cited the role of Malasakit Centers, established through Republic Act No. 11463, in helping indigent patients access government medical assistance and reduce hospital expenses.Through continued partnership among national agencies, local governments, and lawmakers, the initiative aims to make healthcare services more accessible, especially for communities in remote areas.
