CAMIGUIN (PIA) — The provincial government of Camiguin is using its Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) to strengthen agriculture and improve government services through the completion of a swine multiplier farm and the expansion of digital systems.Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo said part of the funding will be used to finish the provincial swine multiplier farm, a project that was delayed due to the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak and increased construction costs.
The additional support will help complete important facilities, including the farm’s water supply, wastewater treatment system, and electrical connections, allowing the project to become fully operational and support local hog raisers.Romualdo explained that the project’s delay caused construction expenses to increase, making the original budget insufficient to complete the facility.
Aside from agriculture, the provincial government is also investing in digital transformation to make government transactions faster, easier, and more accessible for residents.The digital projects include electronic processing of crisis assistance, digital records management, online document approval, kiosk services, and improvements to Camiguin’s tourism application, which is expected to be launched later this year.
The governor said these initiatives aim to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency in government operations.Meanwhile, Camiguin Representative Jurdin Jesus Romualdo emphasized the importance of coordination between national and local government programs in delivering services to residents, including medical assistance, free medicines, and other support programs.Through the combined efforts of local and national funding, Camiguin continues to prioritize agricultural development, digital innovation, and improved public services for its communities.
